Proof of Concept Studies
Typically 4-6 weeks
- Further lab scale study from starting material to isolated product to establish success criteria for an industrial, commercial continuous process
- Requires a whole process approach and techno-commercial analysis
Based on earlier evidence that the desired process is feasible in flow, the next stage is to run a series of experimental runs to show that the process has scope for improvement and gather data on the whole process, including the work up and isolation steps. Key process parameters would be ranged across 2 or 3 points to scope out the available process windows. All of the data would be used to build a techno-commercial model of the continuous process for comparison against other process options.
