Coflore - Flow Reactors

Coflore is a uniquely flexible tool for synthesising fine chemicals and pharmaceutical compounds:
  • Co-current and counter-current
  • Chemical reactions, extraction
  • Slurries, immiscible liquids, gas/liquid mixtures
  • High mixing efficiency
  • Good plug flow
  • Lab and small scale production

The reaction block contains 10 reaction cells (other numbers of cells are available). Interstage channels between the cells prevent back mixing even when high levels of mixing are employed. Within each cell is a cylindrical agitator element which generates mixing when the agitator block is shaken.

This design gives very low pressure drops, efficient mixing and good plug flow independantly of reaction time. This makes the Coflore system powerful and flexible.

Design features of the Coflore ACR

  • Efficient dynamic mixing without agitator shafts, or seals
  • Close coupled reaction cells with interstage channels which are short and straight. This gives them a low propensity for blockage. Solids transfer between stages is horizontal, an advantage when the process material has components of more than one density
  • A heat transfer plate is fitted to one side of the block to control the cell temperature.
  • Sight glasses make the cell contents visible
  • Addition points, sample points or instruments can be fitted to any cell
  • A simple system which can be dismantled for cleaning
  • Cell volume control by changing the size of the agitators
