Coflux Batch Reactor System

Coflux Batch Reactors

Stirred tank reactors are used for chemical synthesis, extraction, dissolution, crystallisation, distillation and bio processes.  A key function of these vessels is the addition and removal of heat. Coflux reactors use a different type heating/cooling jacket with cross flow channels and a variable area valve. This design offers the following benefits:

  • Faster and more stable temperature control
  • A versatile and robust PAT tool
  • Wall temperature monitoring
  • Heat transfer coefficient monitoring
  • Improved energy efficiency
Temperature

For many processes, good temperature control is a quality and yield critical parameter. The Coflux jacket has a response speed which is typically 50 to 200 times faster than a traditional large batch reactor. This eliminates control hunting and gives zero overshoot.

Wall temperature (of the heat transfer surface) is of equal importance to bulk temperature in the overall temperature control strategy. The Coflux reactor monitors wall temperature from the heat balance data. This allows the user to increase heating or cooling rates without risking product damage.
